Malfunctioning Air Eliminator
A faulty air eliminator can allow air to remain trapped in the heating system, causing gurgling, whooshing, banging, or grinding noises. Air pockets can also restrict water circulation, resulting in cold rooms, uneven heating, or even a complete loss of heat.
Trapped air can reduce heat transfer, make the system work harder, and increase energy use. Over time, oxygen in the system can also contribute to rust, scale, and sludge buildup that can damage circulators, piping, and other boiler components.

Incorrect Installation
Another common thing we see is an air scoop (which is less efficient than a micro-bubble air eliminator) installed without the proper horizontal distance from the upstream fiiting. Traditional air scoops need a minimum distance of straight, horizontal, unobstructed pipe before the inlet. That straight run gives the water a chance to settle down and allows air bubbles to rise to the top of the pipe, where the scoop can remove them more effectively.
